FEVER!!!

I just got a call from my husband. He is in LA with Regina right now. Regina spiked 38,5 fever, so Nick is taking her to CHLA ER. Yesterday Regina started complaining mouth sores, so I am guessing mouth sores have something to do with her fever.
Send those get well vibes to her way :) She needs them now.

I'm one of those parents who is so neurotic that not only do I worry about fever, but if they sail through chemo (or a stem cell transplant) with no ill effects, I worry that the chemo didn't work, that it wasn't strong enough.

So I interpret the fever (as long as it doesn't last longer than 48 hours) as a sign that the chemo really did its thing.

Still saying prayers for your little fighter.

I'll see Dr. G tomorrow and I'll definitely mention your name.

I agree with Kathy. This fever is just a sign that her body knows something is different and that the stem cell transplant is working. Of course I am not a doctor, just a friend that believes that the future is bright for Regina.

yes, we are inpatient and stay until she is weened off her 4 different antibiotics. yuck.. About fever. Fever is sign that she has infection in her body that is not supposed to be there. and her body has hard time fighting it off... WHAT would worry me is IF her counts stayed up and did not go down. THEN I would worry about chemo not working. But that is just me. Fever- is fever and sign of infection. In my opinion fever has nothing to do with chemo workig .

How's the fever?

Blood counts should maybe be recovering by Monday, right?

No fever. She is doing great. BUT we can't get out of here because her ANC is 0 . Still. We have to wait till it reaches 500. She is doing great and is eating and playing.
