Just this morning, I heard this from Kahlil Gibran. It touched me in a deep place. Perhaps it will do the same for you.

On Joy and Sorrow
Kahlil Gibran
Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.
And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.
And how else can it be?
The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.
Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven?
And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?
When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

Some of you say, "Joy is greater than sorrow," and others say, "Nay, sorrow is the greater."
But I say unto you, they are inseparable.
Together they come, and when one sits, alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.

Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy.
Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced.
When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall.

Diana, I found these words to be very powerful and very true.
I feel great sorrow right now, but am filled with joy because I had the privilege of knowing Regina, and you.

Bless you. May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

Love, Katrina

To the Family ~ A lovely peom.

When tomorrow starts without me,
and I'm not there to see
If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me.

I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things we didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me, As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too.

But when tomorrow starts with out me, Please try to understand, that an angel camed and called my name and took me by the hand.

Rest in Peace Lil Regina

Dear Tan Family,

Diana, I met you at CHLA. Our daughter's went to a few of the same Sunshine Kids events. We where at the We Can Camp in Oct. 08. Julia ended up in the ER that Sat. She passed 10-days later.

Today is the first time I've visited this website. This is not what I was expecting to find.

It has been over a year since I've cleaned my husband's office (after Julia passed, the office was not a priority... neither was her room). Anyway, I was watching some of Julia's videos on youtube when I stumbled across Regina's. I watched them and loved them. I figured you were probably all doing very well. I had no way of knowing, not until a half-hour later when I found an old notebook. It had Regina's name and a blogspot address. You must have given it to me in Spring '08 and I forgot about it. I don't know what it means, but I don't think it was mere coincidence that I found it today. I asked my husband to type in the address and what we found broke our hearts. I'm so sorry. No words can explain the loss. We understand.

It was nice seeing you girls at the Ride for Kids this year. I'll cherish all the times I got to see Regina.

In time, if you are interested, you might want to checkout the following support groups...

Close your eyes
Hush,
My baby child,
Fill your thoughts of fairies
Fluttering in the skies
See unicorn? Up she flies.

Whispers soft against her skin
Hush,
My baby child,
Let the land of timelessness
Take you within
And let sweet dreams begin.

Slow and deeply breathing
Hush,
My little one,
Rest, I will keep you safe
Here I sit adoring,
And I will see you, in the morning.

Till then, sweet dreams
May filled your head
Resting peacefully in your bed,
Warm and cozy
Through and through,
Dreams are waiting, just for you.

Dear Diana, Nick & Gabriel- You have been so brave to share your journey with Regina, a bravery that allowed us all to witness what am amazing, strong, and beautiful daughter you had. Regina touched me close to my heart as I have also lost a child. You were so blessed to have her in your life and need to continue on in her spirit. You may never understand why this happened- as I am still confused in finding a meaning for our loss, but I do know that I am a much better person for knowing my son. These days ahead will be so very hard - lean on your friends, family and each other.
And to all that are reading this - check in on the Tan family, they will need you more than you could ever imagine - today, tomorrow, and all the days they move ahead in trying to find a normalcy in their lives.
-Hugs to you all, Tracie (a friend of Julee's)

I am sorry. The road ahead is a difficult one as you carry Regina in your hearts and minds but not in your arms. I wish I had better words of comfort to offer.

Perhaps Regina will find my son and the other children who have gone too soon. They light up heaven with their beautiful spirits.

A quote I found comforting: Think of your child: then, not as dead, but as living; not as a flower that has withered, but as one that is transplanted, and touched by a divine hand, is blooming in richer colors and sweeter shades than those of earth.

I hope you find some measure of peace in the months ahead as you remember all the wonderful times you shared with your daughter.

Yesterday, when I heard from a mutual friend Regina just passed away, I cried over the phone. My 5 year old son George asked me why I was crying and I showed him Diana’s Blog and many pictures of Regina. George said to me “Mommy, Please do not cry. R...egina is in heaven now, right?” George drew a picture of three Angles holding hands of Regina. My 2 year old son Gerald helped to color and sparkle white clouds, golden stars and pink skirt. I stopped crying and decided to call Nick and ask whether we could visit their family at this very sadden day………… Diana, Nick and Gebe, it was such an honor to know you all through those many years. Thank you for sharing your incredible journey and a special little girl with us. Each day, I learned not to take my kids as granted and treasure the life we have. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Diana,
I never met any of you but followed your story since Regina was 8 yrs old. For some stupid reason I have no chance to check on ur page since last Friday. But last night around 5am, I dream of Regina. I was crying hard in my sleep. Regina didn't say anything, I saw you and your family was around her and she is smiling, waving her hands...walking slowly towards a very bright light (I believed it is heaven). I start crying because I am going to miss her, but at the same time I know she is pain free. Don't feel sad, she is in heaven, waiting for her beloved mummy, daddy and Gabriel there.

Regina is SO PRETTY in my dream.

Diana, and Nick and Gabriel,

I am praying God will give you His peace to your family.

This song By Chris Tomlin "I Will Raise" comes to mind at this time.

There's a peace I've come to know
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There's an anchor for my soul
I can say "It is well"

Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

There's a day that's drawing near
When this darkness breaks to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes

Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
"Worthy is the Lamb"

And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise
